Rear Window Listening Room is proud to welcome back Tommy Byrd and Kathy Street to our stage! Before Byrd & Street, Tommy Byrd played with the Geezinslaws in Austin, sang harmony on a Willie Nelson recording, was under contract with Stax Record in Memphis and won numerous songwriting awards, including the Song of Austin. Kathy Street sang with various folk and pop groups, a sisters’ quartet and performed in musicals and cabarets. Their music has been licensed by the Austin Humane Society, Pet Connect, Austin German Shepherd Rescue, Rover to the Rescue, Heart Gallery of Central Texas, adoption agencies throughout the US, the Redman House Foundation, and animal rescue organizations around the US. Audiences are in for a treat with Austin duo Byrd & Street, noted for their “impeccable male/female harmony,” “solid first-class songwriting” and lively stories about their songs that they perform with guitar, autoharp, glockenspiel, pianica, and a percussive cabasa. Four-time nominees for Texas Music Awards and three- time Kerrville Festival New Folk finalists, their songs have been recorded by other artists, including Paul Stookey of Peter, Paul and Mary, ( a song about animal adoption.) In 2009, 2015 and 2017 Their CD’s made the Folk DJ worldwide “Best of Year Charts” and the duo made the Folk DJ “Top Artists of the Year Charts.” In addition they made the FAR Charts and the Texas Roots Charts.
