                                                 Tommy Byrd & Kathy Street

2011 New Folk Finalists at Kerrville, this Americana Acoustic duo also performed as New Folk Finalists in 2009. Byrd & Street were 3-time Regional Winners at the festival and were also nominated for a 2009 Texas Music Award as Outstanding Vocal Duo. Paul Stookey (Peter, Paul & Mary) completed a You Tube video of one of their songs, “Let Me Be Your Friend” for Pet Connect in 2011. The song is also licensed by the Austin Humane Society and Austin German Shepherd Rescue. Their song, “Just an Old House “ was adopted by the Redman- Hirahara House Foundation in Watsonville, California in their efforts to restore an 1897 Victorian farm house with a wonderful history. Among the duo’s many awards is first place in the Country category in the 2006 Austin Songwriter’s Group contest for “Love Broke the Fall.” Byrd's earthy vocals intertwined with Street's sweet pure voice create the remarkably tight harmonies that have become their trademark.

"Byrd & Street are an excellent duo featuring impeccable vocals and harmonies and intelligent, well-executed guitar-playing.”
J. Ranstrom GM Mozart’s, Austin
“..great harmonies, well-crafted songs…a very pleasant evening of music.” P. Barker House Concerts
“Wow! ...I was totally blown away when I slid the CD into my player here.......This is exactly why I keep playing music on the radio for the past 24 years! Byrd & Street are among the best in Texas… among the BEST in the USA… making music out there. Trust me, I get a lot of music here, and this sets the standard! N. Mast ,WVPE Elkhart, IN

Before joining forces with Kathy Street, Tommy Byrd played with The Geezinslaws, sang harmony with Willie Nelson on his album, The Sound in Your Mind, and won numerous songwriting awards, including the Song of Austin. Tommy has also engineered and produced projects for many musicians around central Texas at ‘Byrd House Studio.” Kathy sang with folk and pop groups, a sister's quartet, and performed in musicals and cabarets, playing Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, Adelaide in Guys and Dolls and Elsa in the Sound of Music. Together they’ve created award-winning music that has made Top Albums and Top Artists on The Folk DJ Charts, Freeform American Roots Charts and Texas Roots Charts.
In December 2010, Byrd & Street organized the first annual “Mistletoe Jam,” a collaboration of some of Austin’s finest musicians performing to benefit the Adoption Coalition of Texas. Byrd’s song, “My Forever Family” was adopted by the Coalition as well as by other adoption agencies around the country.
